It’s Thursday!

Last night I made pork tenderloin for dinner.  It’s one of those recipes where you brown the meat on the stove then put the pan in the oven to finish cooking.  So I browned the meat and then put it in the 400 degree oven.  I took it out when it was done and set it on the cutting board.  Took the pork out of the pan and put it on a plate then… grabbed the HOT pan handle.

So we took a family trip to MedExpress at 730 last night. womp womp

imag8619_24216045750_oSam didn’t go to preschool today because I had no motivation to get the kids dressed, fed and out the door by 845 this morning.

By 11AM, we were all going stir crazy though so we took a trip to the JCC to play in their family place and I packed a lunch for us.

Sam did some quiet reading when we got home and I documented it.  LOOK HOW PEACEFUL HE IS. It lasted a couple minutes.imag8626_24498196486_o.jpg

And lastly, Sam and I made Healthy Banana Muffins a few days ago and they were delicious!  We made them into about 20 mini muffins.imag8591_24384974741_o

Tonight there will be NO cooking.  Burns HURT.  It’s like on a pain scale of 1 to 10, 10 being child birth, burns get a proper 7/8.

Happy Thursday to you!  Do like Sam suggests and “have a party and get a wine.”

Almost the Weekend

It’s Friday!  I have an ear infection… how strange. This morning Sam had preschool and I put Tucker in Parent’s Morning Out.  I went to the doctor’s at 10 and she prescribed me some antibiotics in ear drop form.

Picked up the boys at noon and Tucker had a serious meltdown on the way home.  I think he was hungry, or hangry.  He didn’t eat much breakfast then wouldn’t eat the snack at PMO.  Poor kid.  He’s napping now.

Morning selfie in pajamas:

And this. lol

Saturday, Aaron is going to work on the Troy Hill house but nothing else is on the agenda for this weekend.  I’m hoping to sew some.  I got the serger rethreaded! And now I’m trying to figure out the embroidering.  Creating my own embroidery design is harder than I thought it would be.  I was thinking…. converting from .jpg to .pes will be just like …save as .pes.  Not the case.  Definitely not the case.

Time to get myself up and clean up the house a bit.  There are crumbs on the couch and Sam just told me to “act fast so we don’t get bugs.” 3 year olds….

Then we’re going to meet Aaron at his office in the South Side for a family date tonight ❤

Have a great weekend!

Typical Tuesday

I set my alarm for 7:40 today so that I could get up before the boys and have coffee.  The boys sleep late, which is awesome.  Sam used to get up at 5 AM so it wasn’t always this way.

Anyway, I got up and made the coffee but then everyone got up and since it was a preschool day, we began the rush to eat breakfast, get dressed and defrost the car by 845.  We were only five minutes late.  I took my coffee in the car with us.

It’s FREEZING outside today.  After we picked up Sam at noon, we played outside in the half inch of snow for about 10 minutes before everyone was too cold.  Well not Sam.  But Tucker doesn’t like the cold at all.  Poor whimpering boy.

I’m making grilled chicken salads with sweet potato fries for dinner tonight.  Sam just helped me cut the sweet potatoes.  By helped, I mean he pointed out the bits of skin that I left on them and told me that’s the bad part.

My serger came threaded but somehow (looking at you, SAM) one of the needles is no longer threaded!  Sigh.  I need to work up the courage to figure it out.  I’ll hopefully be taking a few serger classes in the next month or so too.

I think I hear Tucker making noises in the crib.  ❤

A few things. DIY Valentines

Hello!  Just a quick update before Sam and Tucker wake up from naps.

1. we bought a house!  It’s an investment property.  It was almost definitely cheaper than your car.  I plan on writing a post about it.

2. i want to start a t-shirt business.  Really.  I need to learn how to screen print though.  Any friends here screen printers?

3. i made Valentine’s for Sam’s little mother’s day out friends and it made my life.  This is why I became a parent.  Kidding.  But I do love to craft and they are super easy and probably just about as cheap as a regular box of valentines.

  • Plastic treat bags (from Michaels/Walmart/Hobby Lobby/ or supplier of all things-Amazon)
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Printable labels (i used Avery 2×2 product #22846.  I bought a giant pack of 300 from Amazon for $15)
  • Printer
  • Stapler
  • Scissors/pinking shears
  • Bouncy balls (I bought a bag of 12 from Target for $3)

Print your labels.  If you go to and put in your product number (if you are using Avery labels), they have a million different templates.  Just click Design & Print Online and follow the steps.  Cut out your scrapbook paper to fit the treat bags, Fold in half, stick on your label.  Staple and done!

Tucker at 3 weeks old

Tucker is 3 weeks old now!  I’m having trouble remembering what day it is. I had to stop and think for a minute just now.  Tuesday.  They’re currently BOTH SLEEPING.  This will probably only last for about 30 minutes.

Our house is a crazy mess right now.  It’s really hard to get anything done with two kids.  Tucker likes to nurse approximately every single hour.  He’s a fast nurser though so it only lasts about five minutes but still.  Every hour.  If we want to go anywhere, it always involves a feeding while out.

(Tucker’s nap actually lasted only 20 minutes here).

Here are the Tucker Facts at 3 weeks old:

Wearing: size 3 month onesies! He can still fit into some NB pants though because he has the world’s skinniest legs.

Weight: ??  He has his one month appointment next week so I’ll find out then.  At 1 week old, he was 8lb 4oz so I would guess about 9 pounds now?

Diapers: We just switched from newborn to size 1 diapers because we used up all the NBs that we had.  We go through about 6 diapers a night and maybe 15 a day total!

Likes: Nursing, white noise, being carried around, the swing some times, nursing, nursing, nursing

Dislikes: pacifiers, his car seat unless he’s tired and the car is moving, the sound of Sam playing with his metal tractor, not nursing all.the.time

Sleep: He takes a bunch of short naps throughout the day and occasionally has a longer afternoon nap (1.5 -2 hours).  Night time is still random.  Last night he slept for his longest stretch yet, about 5 hours but normally they’re 2-3 hour stretches, so he’s waking about 3-4 times a night.  Surprisingly Aaron and I are dealing with this much better than we did with Sam.

Nicknames: Sam started calling him Tucker Baby and now we all call him that.

Time it takes to get out of the house: About 2 hours for a 30 minute trip

Sam is up now!  Must go!
